Health pass: a result of a negative test of less than 72 hours now valid

While the presentation of the health pass is now mandatory in bars and restaurants, health establishments and for all long-distance journeys, the Minister of Health announced this weekend, some relaxations to facilitate its access. Now it is possible to test negative within 72 hours compared to 48 hours so far. Self-tests are also conditionally authorized.

The health pass now allows negative tests of less than 72 hours

As of Monday, August 9, 2021, the presentation of a health pass is now mandatory to go to restaurants and bars, to take long-distance journeys and to go to health establishments and certain shopping centers. After being approved by the Constitutional Council and promulgated in the official journal last Friday, the law faces some adjustments. Indeed, in an interview with Le Parisien, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced some flexibility in order to facilitate access to the health pass.

While the health pass previously required the presentation of a complete vaccination schedule, a Covid recovery certificate of less than six months or the result of a negative test of less than 48 hours, it is now possible to present a PCR or antigen test of less than 72 hours. The Minister of Health thus declared: “ After consultation with the scientific authorities, a negative screening valid for 72 hours and no longer 48 hours for the unvaccinated »Will be accepted as part of the health pass.

Self-tests also accepted under certain conditions

Among the relaxations announced by the authorities, we also retain the possibility of performing a self-test under conditions as announced by Olivier Véran: “AAnother novelty: it will be possible to perform self-tests supervised by a healthcare professional, in addition to antigen and PCR tests “. Like the other types of tests, the self-tests will be valid for a period of 72 hours.

The health pass will not be compulsory for general practitioners

The Minister of Health has also confirmed that the health pass will not be required to go to his general practitioner unlike health establishments whose presentation is mandatory except in an emergency. Olivier Véran thus clarified that if the health pass is requested to enter the hospital, it must not ” be a barrier to accessing useful and urgent care '.

Other new announcements could follow this week concerning vaccination since a health defense council will be held this Wednesday, August 11 during which the question of the injection of a third dose of vaccine to the most vulnerable people will be addressed.
